SUMMARY:Practical Leadership 1.0: Cultivating Thriving Supervisory Relationships
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVirtual Workshop – Live/OnlineFee: $135 for MCN members / $175 for nonmembers  \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\n\n\nEffectively carrying out a supervisor role is more “art” than science. Often\, people leaders are left on their own to try and figure out how to implement their supervisor duties. Unskilled supervision can create organizational cultures that are ineffective at best\, and causing harm at worst. When people leaders understand the expectations of their role\, they are able to supervise in a way that fosters healthy working relationships with each employee that reports to them. This\, in turn\, builds psychological safety and creates thriving\, inclusive organizational cultures. \n\n\n\nThis highly interactive training provides participants with immediately implementable tools and strategies for transforming their supervision skills for stronger\, more productive one-on-one relationships in the workplace. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is one of MCN’s most popular trainings and consistently receives high evaluations. \n\n\n\nThis is a six-hour virtual training spread over three two-hour sessions: \n\n\n\n\nMay 12\, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central\n\n\n\nMay 13\, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central\n\n\n\nMay 14\, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTopics Covered: \n\n\n\n\nCultivating self-awareness and brain/body response to stress\n\n\n\nFeedback conversation skills\n\n\n\nDeveloping psychological safety\n\n\n\nUsing the Platinum Rule in supervision\n\n\n\nOne-on-One check-ins and Supervising Framework\n\n\n\nCoach approach to supervising\n\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nBetter understand the competencies of the supervisor roles and have improved confidence in implementing the role\n\n\n\nAnalysis of the challenges to inclusive leadership with the vertical power dynamic created by hierarchical structures\n\n\n\nCultivate self-awareness and accountability for fostering positive organizational culture and avoiding destructive behaviors in the workplace\n\n\n\nIncrease comfort at holding a range of conversations\, including developmental feedback\n\n\n\nLearn strategies for helping employees solve their own challenges\n\n\n\nBuild awareness of when to use coaching in the supervisor role\n\n\n\n\nNote: We also strongly recommend you take Practical Leadership 2.0: Building Engaged Teams. Believing anyone can be a leader\, Lisa lives in two worlds: traditional hierarchies\, where she helps managers excel in their role\, and collective teams\, where she helps groups think systemically and improve their shared leadership skills. Before starting her own consulting firm\, Lisa held senior leadership and management positions in several international and U.S.-based nonprofit organizations. Lisa has an MBA from Yale and a B.A. in psychology from Luther College and is certified as a human systems dynamics professional. Lisa\, an ongoing learner of cultural agility\, brings a strong value of inclusion and participatory processes to her training.
