Shonni serves as the Research Manager for the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN). In this role, she is responsible for conducting research and analysis on critical sector issues, developing and disseminating information to nonprofit organizations, policymakers, and the public, and advocating on issues of importance to the nonprofit sector and the people it serves.
Shonni is passionate about utilizing her research expertise for advancing advocacy work. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and minored in Sociology and Justice and Peace Studies. She then received her Master’s in Human Rights, concentrating in racial and gender justice with a minor in law. Shonni utilized this degree to combine her expertise with research and passion for advocacy work. Along with her educational background, Shonni has a special place in her heart for nonprofit work. She completed an AmeriCorps VISTA term through MCN at the African Development Cetner where she aided small businesses navigate emergency COVID-19 grants and loans. Finally, she serves on the Board of Keane Sense of Rhythm, a local nonprofit dedicated to growing the tap-dancing community.
In her free time, Shonni loves to crochet, take dance classes, and explore new restaurants with friends!
