Addressing Fraud Town Hall: Evidence-Based Recommendations
April 27 @ 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm CDT
Virtual Workshop – Live/Online
Fee: Free
There are growing concerns with public narratives around fraud and nonprofits, and as a result, the Minnesota Legislature has been advancing proposals that add new oversight to state grants. But are these proposals and narratives grounded in evidence?
In this MCN virtual town, you’ll hear new research findings on where the most widely reported cases of fraud have taken place, policy recommendations rooted in evidence that would safeguard public funds, and legal and compliance reminders to keep your nonprofit in good standing.
Participants will hear highlights from MCN’s research on the most widely reported cases of fraud and gain a practical refresher from a nonprofit lawyer on the compliance and transparency requirements nonprofits must meet, from public tax filings to state registration and reporting. The free Town Hall will also explore advocacy opportunities to push for smart oversight policies that strengthen program integrity without disrupting critical services.
