Cultivating Resilience for Employees and Leaders

October 15 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm CDT

Virtual Workshop – Live/Online
Fee: $50 for MCN members / $70 for nonmembers

As an employee or leader of a dynamic nonprofit, how are your needs being met? How does stress show up in your work with colleagues and the people you serve? Research shows that when we experience a stress response, it impacts our ability to do our best work and be our best selves, and we are more likely to act on our biases. In order to create belonging in the workplace for self and others, we must be aware of what activates a stress response in us and how to cultivate our resilience so that we can stay engaged in our work, cultivate stronger relationships with colleagues and the people we serve, and minimize our biases. In this workshop, participants will engage in self-reflection around their own resilience habits and dispositions as well as their own need fulfillment. Using self-assessment tools, participants will identify goals for building their own resilience and attending to their own basic needs. Participants will learn and practice strategies for navigating stress, including mindfulness and compassion exercises.

Objectives

  1. Participate in self-reflection and learn about how a stress response impacts our responsible decision-making abilities
  2. Assess how one’s basic needs are met and how they may be in conflict with the needs of others, including colleagues, clients, and the larger community
  3. Identify habits and dispositions needed that promote resilience and responsiveness to internal and external stressors
