If you work with any type of data, from grant reporting to program tracking, improving your skills in Excel is one of the easiest ways to level up your efficiency and productivity at work. This fast-paced course will start at the very beginning: introducing Excel as an essential tool for any nonprofit professional. We will build on that foundation to teach participants how to effectively organize, analyze, and visualize data in ways that make work easier, smarter, more productive, and more efficient.
Participants are encouraged to have an active subscription for Microsoft Excel.
This is a four-week exploration of Excel with sessions taking place on Wednesdays, March 5, 12, 19, & 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Central each day.

March 5th | Beginner | Excel 101
- What is Microsoft Excel
- Understanding the structure of Excel workbooks
- Entering, formatting, and organizing Excel Data
- Working with Cell References
- Sorting and Filtering Data
March 12th & 19th | Intermediate | Excel 201
- Excel Functions
- The structure of an Excel Function
- Understanding Order of Operations
- Numeric Functions: SUM(), COUNT(), MIN(), MAX()
- Logic Functions: IF(), VLOOKUP(), INDEX(), MATCH()
- Text Functions: LEFT(), RIGHT(), PROPER(), CONCATENATE()
March 26th | Upper Intermediate | Excel 202
- Excel Visualizations
- Creating Charts and Graphs
- Formatting Charts and Graphs
- Conditional Formatting
- Intro to PivotTables
Event Details
