How are we working in service of each other during this uncertain time?

These national, state, and organizational level leaders will provide insights into why it is important to continue to do your mission work, and how nonprofit leaders can be involved in advocacy and preparing your organization for what’s ahead.

Join Diane Yentel, President & CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits, Nonoko Sato, Executive Director of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, and Henry Jiménez, President & CEO of Propel Nonprofits, to learn what they are seeing, tracking, and how they are being in service to nonprofits and their communities.

Special note: This conversation is a newly added plenary to the schedule for the 2025 Nonprofit Finance and Sustainability Conference taking place virtually on February 25 & 27. As part of our commitment to respond rapidly to the impacts made by the ever-changing federal and state government landscapes and their impact on nonprofits, MCN and Propel Nonprofits have added this conversation and are opening it up to anyone who wishes to attend. Registering for the plenary conversation as a stand-alone engagement is free. If you wish to register for the entire Nonprofit Finance and Sustainability Conference, please do so at https://minnesotanonprofits.org/events/conferences/finance-conference/registration.

Speaker Information

Diane Yentel is President & CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits. Prior to joining NCN, Diane led the National Low Income Housing Coalition, serving as President and CEO for 9 years. Under her leadership, NLIHC achieved exponential growth and financial stability, and led visionary national campaigns to historic success.

Throughout her career, Diane has worked closely with members of Congress, the White House, federal agencies, national, state, and local partners, and thousands of nonprofit organizations throughout the country. Diane has testified multiple times before the United States Congress and is frequently called upon to provide commentary to major media outlets and keynote remarks to national, state, and local partner organizations.

Before becoming NLIHC’s President and CEO, Diane was Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs at Enterprise Community Partners. Previously, Diane was the director of the Public Housing Management and Occupancy Division at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and also worked to advance equitable public policies with Oxfam America and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. Diane was also a community development Peace Corps volunteer in Zambia. She holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY at Stony Brook and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.

Nonoko Sato is the president and CEO for the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN), the largest state association for nonprofits in the United States. She oversees MCN’s strategic response to organizational and sector challenges through public policy and advocacy, responsive and educational programming, and sector-wide research.

Nonoko serves or has served in a variety of advisory, board, and trustee roles, including Governor Walz’s Council on Economic Expansion, Equity Diversity Impact Assessment Committee of the Minneapolis Public Schools, Coalition of Asian American Leaders, Theater Mu, Carleton College, among others. She previously served as MCN’s associate director, overseeing internal operations, programming, finance, and administration, as well as launching BenefitsMN, an association health plan for nonprofit organizations that strives to increase the vitality of Minnesota nonprofits through access to affordable and sustainable healthcare.

Prior to these roles, Nonoko served as the executive director of an organization that champions educational equity by supporting students in overcoming systemic barriers on their journey to a college degree. Under her leadership, the organization tripled the number of students and expanded its services through high school. In all her roles, Nonoko is dedicated to enhancing and improving cultural humility, intentionally creating inclusive and accessible spaces, and working to end disparities in power, money, access, and resources.

Henry is a trustee on the board of the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota and is the founding president of the board of directors of COPAL (Comunidades Organizando el Poder y Acción Latina), a Twin Cities-based non-profit working to consolidate and activate the civic power of MN’s Latinos. Nationally, he serves on the boards of the Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) and National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB).
